Top Twitter tips for writers

After yesterday’s blog post I thought I would offer some advice about how writers should be using Twitter.

  • Use the @reply. Getting involved in conversations will not only build relationships but also alert other twitters to your existence.
  • Tweet about stuff. Most of your Tweets should be about stuff other like-mined people will be interested in reading. About one in ten of your tweets can be about you/your book.
  • Don’t tweet all in one go. It might be 9 o’clock in the UK but other parts of the world are still asleep. Spread out your tweets.
  • Tweet about your blog posts. When you write a new blog post send out a quick tweet with the link to the post.
